Mr. Yin Gefei attends the Seminar: EU Directive on Non-financial Information

On December 14, 2016, CSR Europe hosted the seminar: EU Directive on Non-financial Information. Mr. Yin Gefei, Chief Expert of GoldenBee CSR Consulting was invited to speak at this seminar and introduced the state of play of CSR reporting in China.

In particularly, Yin Gefei introduced the great change of the CSR reporting in China over past 15 years. He indicated that the number of CSR reports in China were in an increasing trend between 2001 and 2016. The overall quality of CSR reports had been on steady rise. Especially, the high-quality CSR reports has sharp increase in numbers. In disclosure of CSR fulfillment, the information about employee, community and government are relevant adequate, and there is a remarkable increasing trend to disclose more information about environment, suppliers, peers and regulatory. The reports become more internationalized. The number of reports compiled on the basis of international CSR standards and guidelines, like GRI Guidelines, UN Global Compact, ISO 26000, has significantly increased. Moreover, the number of English version reports rises.

In addition, Yin Gefei also introduced the Chinese government’s efforts in CSR legislation. From July, 2015 to December, 2016, SASAC, SAIC, ACFIC, NPC legal counsel, Legal Affairs Office of the State Council, and MEP promoted the task and carried out the research on CSR legislation, and then completed the study on the availability of CSR legislation. Later on, they will submit the research results to the Leading Group for Deepening Reform Comprehensively under the CPC Central Committee.

Chinese government plays an important role in promoting transparency and CSR fulfillment. They’ve issued relevant policies, guidelines and standards to promote and monitor enterprises to fulfill CSR and disclose relevant information. A series of policies and regulations also has been formulated to regulate Chinese enterprises’ overseas CSR performance.
