Launch of EU-China Sustainability Leadership Platform in Beijing

EU and Chinese companies have a lot to learn from each other. This new Platform aims at promoting practical collaboration between businesses to achieve the SDGs.

On June 6, 2018, GoldenBee CSR Consulting and its European partner CSR Europe held the launching ceremony of the Sustainability Leadership Platform at the 13th International CSR Forum in Beijing. The purpose is to create an institutional framework to incubate, coordinate and promote collaboration between Chinese and European companies on the Sustainable Development Goals.

A POTENTIAL MODEL FOR COLLABORATION



China Daily, people.cn and People Daily Overseas Edition, had exclusive interviews to Gefei Yin, Chief Expert of GoldenBee CSR Consulting and Stefan Crets, Executive Director of CSR Europe.

CSR Europe is our long term partner for more than 14 years,” said Gefei Yin, Chief Expert of GoldenBee CSR Consulting, “and now this new Sustainability Platform will strengthen the collaboration between the two organizations and enhance the leadership position of both China and Europe in the world on promoting sustainability.”

Stefan Crets, Executive Director of CSR Europe said, “As trade relations and attention to sustainability are growing in both EU and China, it is essential to create more visibility about practical collaboration. At the same time, the platform has the potential to become a 'model' that can be implemented in other regions in the world, e.g. Japan and Africa.” He believes that the platform will leverage existing collaborations, from their National Partners in the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden.

Four working areas have been highlighted for the future collaboration of the Sustainability Leadership Platform: policy, impact platform & sector approaches, knowledge sharing and communication.

The possible actions could be the following:  

Policy

-       Monitor and   Dialogue on Trade agenda, Belt & Road Initiatives

Impact platforms & Sector approaches

-       Closer   collaboration in automotive supply chain, Drive Sustainability

-       Align, leverage and   strengthen project from CSR Europe partner organizations in European   countries

-       Special   collaboration with related associations on raw material sourcing (Rubber,   cobalt, copper, etc.)

Knowledge sharing & learning for companies

-        Session on raw   materials

-        Strengthening of   engagement of Chinese companies in Europe

-        Sharing of tools,   benchmarks, etc.

Communication

-     Specific website to   demonstrate on-going activity
